Washington State Department of Natural Resources

The Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) vision is to protect and restore the natural environment of our earth. They believe that the way to do this is by good management. The DNR manages the natural environment. Their goal is to maintain the environment, the economy, and the community at a healthy balance.

The DNR protects and maintains the land that belongs to the people of Washington State. They also protect natural resources of Washington State including fish, wildlife, water, trees, and mineral deposits. They protect and restore these natural resources by providing the personnel to manage them.

Two of the main ways that the DNR protects our natural resources are: preventing forest fires and regulating timber harvest. While both of these can be beneficial to natural resources, they must be well regulated or they could prove very damaging to our natural resources.

The DNR offers assistance and technical advice for forestry and mining. They provide scientific information about earthquakes, volcanos, and landslides. They also provide assistance and advice to woodland owners. These are just a few of the many things that they do.

The DNR plays a very important roll in Washington State. They have an amazing responsibility to the people our state. They do an awesome job of protecting our natural resources and we owe them a lot!
